Enlighten Tattoo Removal

Kauffman Medi Spa is the first in Indiana and one of only 15 nationwide to offer the world’s first —and only—FDA approved dual wavelength laser system for tattoo removal – the enlighten™! The two wavelengths provide the most effective treatment available, which also means better clearance of the tattoo with faster and fewer treatments needed. Tattoos that were once difficult to treat in the past with older technology now have a much higher chance of removal or lightening with the enlighten.

With the world's first dual wavelength (1064nm + 532nm) and dual pulse duration laser system, (750 picosection + 2 nanosecond) CUTERA's enlighten™ offers industry leading power, treatment depth and speed for the most efficient and complete tattoo removal results. Patients experience results with 40% fewer treatments needed with technology that is safe to use on all skin types and designed to target more comprehensive range of ink colors.

The enlighten laser works by breaking up the tattoo ink into tiny pieces utilizing both picosecond and nanosecond technology, which allows your body’s immune system to remove it over time. Three to six sessions may be needed depending on the depth of the tattoo, the age of the tattoo, and the diversity of ink colors. This is half the amount of treatments needed with other laser tattoo removal devices!

FAQ

Can enlighten be used on all skin types?
Yes, enlighten is safe for all skin types. Individuals who are pregnant, on blood thinners or undergoing skin cancer treatment cannot have laser tattoo removal.

Can enlighten remove cosmetic tattoos as well?
The enlighten is safe to treat the eyebrows and lip liner. It cannot be used to remove eye liner tattoos.

Does the procedure hurt?
Most patients describe the treatment like a hot bacon grease splatter during the pulse of the laser. Treatments are so fast! Unlike the hours it takes to receive a tattoo, a 3-inch tattoo laser removal treatment time is less than 5 minutes. There is no pain after the treatment. A topical anesthetic is applied before the treatment for added comfort.

How many treatments will there be?
Typically, a patient will receive 3-6 treatments with each treatment about 8 weeks apart.

Can patients return to normal activities after treatment?
Yes, patients can return to normal activities immediately. There will be some wound care instructions the patient will need to follow after each treatment. It is imperative that patients avoid the sun 4 weeks before and after the treatment.

When will patients start seeing results?
Results vary from patient-to-patient depending on the tattoo treated. Black, red, orange, yellow and green ink colors all respond well to treatment. Lighter color tattoos such as purple, teal and light pink are harder to treat and achieve 100 percent clearance of the tattoo – although you should expect to see lightening.

Is enlighten safe? Are there side effects?
enlighten is an FDA-approved laser designed to provide a safe and comfortable procedure. Side effects can include blisters, pinpoint bleeding, hyper or hypopigmentation, texture changes, infection and scarring.

How much does enlighten cost?
The cost varies based on the size of tattoo and the number of treatments needed.
